Rebekah Cameron
Hi, I’m Rebekah. I’ve been practicing yoga for 8 years, and enjoying every minute. With Hatha Yoga, and Ashtanga Yoga as my main avenues of practice, I have noticed the increase of energy within, the state of health achieved in the mind, body, and soul, and the difference in the way other people perceive and accept the energy that surrounds me. Clearly Yoga has many benefits that are beyond the context of this page. As time progressed and my practice evolved I really wanted to find a way to share these wonderful experiences with other people.
In search of defining my own practice, I took a Yoga Teacher Training workshop at East to West Yoga Center in Toronto in November 2007. It was a weekend intensive, and the focus was Hatha Yoga. Although I learned much about various postures, adjustments, and sequences, I wanted to explore the spiritual teachings that are significant to the study of Yoga. So I went to India to study Ashtanga Yoga.
In January 2008 I took a one month intenxive at the Himalaya Yoga Valley in Goa, India. During this time I practiced 1 hour meditation every day, as well as 4 hours of Yoga per day. The course also included philosophy lectures, anatomy classes, observances &adjustments, group work, and chanting. Taking the course brought me to a new level of understanding (not only in Yoga, but understanding in general).
In the study, and practice of Yoga, there is always potential to learn and grow. I plan to further evolve through additional studies, self practice, and the practice of teaching classes so that I may share the gift of Yoga with all who are open to the experience.
